With our unique Camp placement process you will be actively involved in your placement. Working at a Summer Camp is like no other job. You get to work with between 50 - 200+, 18-25 yr olds who just like you are looking for an fun, adventure of a lifetime!

Overview

Have you seen any of the Summer Camp Movies like Parent Trap, Camp Rock, Dirty Dancing - well camp is just like that. Loads of fun in the sun!

Spend 9 weeks being a role model, mentor, guide and hero to a group of campers. 

During the day you get to show and teach them how to do all the fun non-academic things you like to do. There can be over 200 activities that campers can do at camp and your role is to help them do, learn and enjoy those activities.

WHAT DO CAMPS LOOK FOR?

1. People who have experience working, caring or being around young children up to the age of 16. This could be babysitting, peer support, helping coach the younger teams at school or a club, helping look after the Nippers at the surf club, or any type of coaching and teaching.
2. Someone who is confident in their own ability. You do not need to have taught before! On the weekends or evenings: 
• Do you like to play sports? Camps offer over 30 different sports including Aussie sports like, Cricket, AFL, Rugby and more.
• Do you like to be creative? Think of any type of arts and crafts, summer camps offer these and want people to come share their passion and creative side.
• Do you love the water? Lifeguard/Lifesavers, Swimmers/ Swim teachers, water-skiers/wake surf/board/kneeboard, boat driver or jet skier, Kayakers, Canoers, windsurfers, sailors, and those that love to fish are all high in demand.
• Do you perform? Acting, singing, drama, do any type of dance, play any type of musical instrument, DJ, direct shows, sound/lighting experience, circus, trapeze, juggle, magic and so much more!
• Do you love horses and farm animals? Camps hire people with all levels of horse riding experience or experience with all type of farm animals.
• Are you a gymnast, do cheer leading or trampolining?
• Are you adventurous? Do you go climbing, hiking, camping, orienteering, play on low and high ropes courses are a Scout or Guide?
• Are you into more extreme sports? Skateboarding, ATV's, Minibikes, Downhill Mt Biking, Go-carts,

There are so many things you can do and show children to do at camp. Just be confident in your own skill ability and that is what our camps look for!

WHAT ELSE DOES A CAMP COUNSELOR DO? 

• Provide a fun and safe experience for your campers (typically 8 - 16 years old).
• You and a co-counselor/leader will live in the cabin with your 8 - 10 campers. You get them to sleep, up in the morning, eat meals with them, make sure they (and you) are having fun during the day.  

Some important things to note:

• You must be available for at least 9 weeks from late May/mid June till mid to late August.
• There are costs to do this Cultural Exchange program. These are all outlined on our website - CLICK HERE: You will need to pay for your flights, visa, police check and American Summers fee which pretty much pays for your 4 months insurance (AU$480).
• You won't become rich and famous working at camp. Expect to break about even for a 4-5 month working holiday in America.  But on top of that you will not have to pay for food and accommodation for 9 weeks as it is included while at camp.
• Working at Summer Camp can be addictive, the good news is you can go back as many times as you want!
